My Experience

If you have a small business – or anything approximating a small business (e.g., occasional sales on eBay, lemonade stand, etc.) – this is worth it!

You essentially sign up for a business credit card, complete a spending requirement, and receive points redeemable for cash or travel. Personally, I got the Chase Ink Preferred (CIP). The application didn’t ask for too many details about my business – just revenues and spending. I got a call a few days later to discuss my business (so remember the numbers you put down on the application) and then was approved an hour-ish later.

I enrolled during a special promotion, which gave me 120,000 Ultimate Rewards (UR) points, redeemable for $1,200 cash, for completing a $6000 spending requirement over 3 months. The rewards posted the day after my next statement after completing the spending requirement.

The reward is slightly less now but still worth a look. Check the rewards and requirements to find the best deal given your monthly spending. The Chase app has a tracker so you can see how close you are. Some forms of ‘Manufactured Spending’ work well here, like credit card funding on banks. There is a $95 annual fee that you have to pay once, so you can subtract that from your reward.

Best practice is to complete your promotion, receive your reward, keep the card until the next annual fee, then call Chase to (A) downgrade the card to a card with no annual fee and (B) ask for a fee waiver on the second annual fee.

Once you have a Chase business card, you can refer others for Chase cards. Yay pseudo-pyramid schemes!

Earn 90,000 bonus points with the Ink Business Preferred® card or up to $1,000 bonus cash back with the Ink Business Premier® card, Ink Business Unlimited® card or Ink Business Cash® card. I can be rewarded if you apply here and are approved for the card. https://www.referyourchasecard.com/21r/CCBD5648J8
