Message: The middle-classes who migrated to Puritan Massachusetts Bay Colony were skilled artisans, and windmills and gristmills began to appear. In the early 1700's such a mill was constructed in Sudbury, Massachusetts, near the How Tavern, now known as the Wayside Inn. It was burned in 1928. This reproduction of the early Grist Mill stands on the original location. It grinds wheat, by water power, for bread.
