Back Description: Text about the Liberty Bell and publisher information.

Printed Text on Back: 56. LIBERTY BELL, INDEPENDENCE HALL, PHILADELPHIA, PA.—This famous relic was first cast in London 1752. It bore the motto: "Proclaim Liberty throughout the land unto all the inhabitants thereof." It was afterward recast in Philadelphia with the same inscription and was rung when the Declaration of Independence was adopted by Congress. Its permanent home is Independence Hall. It has been exhibited at all the late expositions held at Philadelphia. The original split in the bell was made while it was being tolled in honor of John Marshall, Chief Justice of the United States, who died on July 6th, 1835, and whose interpretation had given vitality to the Constitution.
